Dear Parents, Friends and
Benefactors,

Greetings of Peace and Love.
Jesuit education
is inspired by a
vision of human person drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus
Christ, who has always been respected and admired by people for the
last 2,000 years. It is also based on the principles of character
formation elaborated by the founder of the Society of Jesus. This
vision and these principles give Jesuit educational institutions a
specific character and set before their staff and students and
parents high ideals of humanism and service towards which they are
invited continually to strive.
Our objective is to promote the total
transformation
of the whole person
in four areas- Social,
Spiritual, Intellectual, and Personal-
so as to be fully human, fully Nepali, and truly modern. This means
the students are open and committed both to the Divine Sprit and
their fellow human beings. They must show this by being actively
concerned about national development.
The Jesuit Society has already set a wonderful tradition in bringing
quality education worldwide and especially to the people of Nepal.
There are many Jesuits fathers who have dedicated their whole life,
their time and talents for the education of thousands of Nepalese
children. We are proud to say that most of our Alumni have already
proved that St. Xavier’s education stays with the person throughout
life. It makes me happy to see that many of our graduates are
contributing tremendously to the building up of the Nation and also
bringing hope to the underprivileged section of our society. We hope
and pray that St. Xavier’s may continue to produce many more such
excellent citizens for the country and wonderful persons for the
welfare of the entire human family.
Thanks to the plans, visions and dedicated service of the previous
Principals and Staff of the School, today we have better physical
facilities and playing fields in the School. We are proud to say
that we have a dedicated team of staff members who are well
qualified, professionally trained, committed and loyal to the
school, students and parents. Most of them have spent many fruitful
years in the School and have also assimilated the culture and
tradition of Jesuit education in their professional carrier. Our
nonteaching staff members, be it the office or the maintenance, have
become an integral part of the School community. It is they who make
the School premises so beautiful and create a pleasant welcoming
atmosphere in and around the School.
Our long awaited school expansion plan to have a new extension
building with “Plus Two”, School canteen, more class rooms, new
science and computer labs and administration block has now begun. We
expect the building to be completed in another two years. We need
your financial support and blessings. Therefore, we invite all of
you, parents, present and former students, benefactors and all
people of goodwill to join us in our vision with the resources that
are available to you. You can contribute to the building fund in our
Himalayan Bank Account No: 00601786720013. We look forward to your
contributions to the new building extension.
We also want to see more poor children who can’t afford to have a
good education otherwise get a chance to study at St. Xavier’s. We
want to see our children getting plenty of opportunities to take
part in different extra and co- curricular activities within and
outside the school so that they can easily fit in the society. We
also want to see academically excellent men and women coming out of
St. Xavier’s who are honest, useful, productive, creative and
resourceful and at the same time imbued with a sense of social
justice.
This year St. Xavier’s will host the
Fourth National Convention on
Students Quality Circle
in the month of November, 2008. We expect over 60 schools, private,
community and Government run schools, from inside and outside
Kathmandu valley to participate in the convention. We request your
full support and cooperation for the success of the convention.
We are proud to say that St. Xavier’s has already set many positive
trends in the past in the areas of School development, quality
education and free education for the underprivileged. Last one year
we have received such an overwhelming and generous response from
many of you to help the School to educate poor children who study in
our School. St. Xavier’s School will always be grateful for your
generosity. It is so good to know that some of our benefactors and
friends have never studied in our School or have had any previous
connection with the school! May God reward all of you for your
generous support to our Scholarship programme and contributing to
our development fund. As we wish to thank you for all your support
to the School in the past, I look forward to your continual support
in the days to come, as well.
Let us continue to be faithful to our Mission statement and our
School motto and make a difference in the country. Let each one of
us contribute according to our talents and power to help our country
to be a peaceful motherland for all of us. Let us make St. Xavier’s
School a place of learning and transformation where students will
grow to physical, mental, social, spiritual and intellectual
maturity.
As I end, I wish to thank once again all the teachers, co-workers,
parents, students and friends who transform St. Xavier’s, into a
family of learners, collaborators and partners to make our vision
and motto come true.
Fr. P. A. James, S. J.
